Hazardous Air Plan
When the air quality index (AQI) number is above 150, we keep the elementary kids (Kinder-prep through Grade 6) inside for recesses and PE. Our Great Hall is converted to an indoor play space, so the younger kids may come to the Great Hall for recesses and PE, after eating lunch in their classrooms.
For the secondary students, we will give them the choice of going out for their 35 minute lunch break if the particulate numbers are less than 200. Please talk to your secondary students and especially if they are sensitive to the air quality let them know if you would like them to stay indoors. We have been and will continue to make indoor options available for any secondary students who prefer to stay indoors.
When the AQI number is above 200 (“hazardous for everyone”), we will require 7th-10th graders to eat and remain indoors for their lunch break. We will have classrooms available to accommodate all of our kids. Juniors and Seniors often have off campus privileges during breaks and we will not rescind that, so please communicate your preferences to them if you want them to stay indoors with the rest of the secondary students.
